The Montclair Office Of School Counseling encourages all seniors to investigate scholarship opportunities. National scholarships can be searched through one of any number of online scholarship search services, such as Fastweb or Chegg. Below is a list of useful websites.

NJAPSA Dr. Theodore Kozlik Scholarship 2024

The New Jersey Association of Pupil Services Administrators' Association is sponsoring the Dr. Theodore Kozlik Scholarship Program for June 2024 graduates. Applicants must be classified as eligible for special education services, pursuing post-secondary education and sponsored by a NJAPSA member. 

Students should demonstrate some or all of the following:

- Motivation to succeed academically - Participation in school and extracurricular activities - Community Service including volunteerism - Employment experiences - Self-Directed - Leadership Skills

Free and Accepted Masons State of New Jersey Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria: 

1. The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge and Oziel Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star will have a Joint Scholarship Program on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Location: Program will be held at Kean University and will begin at 10:00am 

2. The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge will award Scholarships in the following categories:  Family Awards – Eight (8) $2,000.00 Must be related to a Prince Hall Master Mason.  At-Large Awards – Eight (8) 1,000.00 Does not have to be related to a Prince Hall Master Mason. 

3. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, 2024. 

4. All applicants must be planning to attend college in the fall of 2024 as a full-time student.

Essex County Directors of Special Education Scholarship Notice 2023-2024 School Year
The Essex County Directors of Special Education is pleased to announce that they will be providing several one-year scholarships to graduating senior students who have been accepted to an accredited college, university, commercial or trade school. The organization will be awarding these scholarships to students who are eligible for special education and related services and currently have an IEP plan in place. The following factors will be considered as part of the application:

⮚ Community service including charity work ⮚ Citizenship activities ⮚ Academic achievement ⮚ Financial need ⮚ Self-Advocacy ⮚ Leadership ⮚ Goals and ambitions
Students that wish to be candidates for this scholarship should complete the attached application to the Montclair High School Office of School Counseling by Friday, April 26, 2024. P.E.O. New Jersey Chapter A-B $2,000 Memorial Scholarship

This $2,000 scholarship is for a Montclair High School female student graduating in June 2024. The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international philanthropic educational organization which promotes educational opportunities for women through grants, loans, and scholarships. This particular need-based scholarship is given by Chapter A-8 of Montclair, NJ, for a female senior in Montclair High School planning to attend an accredited post- secondary educational institution in the United States in the fall of the academic year following high school graduation. The accredited school may be a four year college, community college, nursing school, proprietary or trade school preparing students for a particular career field. 


Applicant Eligibility Criteria:

* Exhibits excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service,

academics and potential for future success

* Student must be in final academic year (senior year) of secondary education at time of 

application deadline

* Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (8 average)

* Citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States

* Plans to attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution in the United States 

full-time in the fall of the academic year after graduation

* Student's family must provide evidence of financial need

Hortense Tate Scholarship

The Montclair History Center maintains three historic properties, including the Israel Crane House and Historic YWCA, now located at 110 Orange Road.

 

Hortense Tate was a pivotal figure in the Glenridge Avenue YWCA from the time she moved to Montclair from Kansas to become a Girl Reserve Secretary in 1921 and throughout the 20th century, continuing the YWCA mission to establish an educational center and safe haven for African American women and girls in Montclair. Mrs. Tate inspired countless young women at the YWCA by creating a positive environment, fostering cultural pride, and encouraging young women to pursue higher educational degrees. This scholarship will be awarded in her spirit!

Thornton Sisters Scholarship Information and Application

Requirements:

  • HS Senior enrolling in a 4 yr accredited college or university
  • Female of Color (African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino-American, Caribbean-American, Native American, Asian-American, etc.)
  • GPA: C+ or better
  • Official Transcript
  • 3 Recommendation Letters
  • Proof of Parent’s Income/tax statement
  • Personal Essay
  • Photo-Passport Size

H2M STEAM Scholarship (Architects and Engineers)

Please see the attached H2M Scholarship awarded on the basis of merit to seniors planning to attend college and enroll in a science, technology, engineering, architecture or math (STEAM) degree program.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Scholarship Application 

Open to descendants (children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins) of members of DAV, NJ.

The Music Village Scholarship

Music Village’s mission to inspire unity in the community through music and the arts can only be obtained by having skillful performers who sacrifice to serve the community with their talents. We believe that when the community aligns with the artists, the artists will give back to support the community through their talents, time, and resources.

The Music Village Scholarship Fund will seek to support artists by:

  • Providing financial support for the instruments and arts materials.
  • Providing support for private instruction, study programs, or summer music/arts camps.
  • Providing tuition support for collegiate musical studies.

Requirements:

  • You must be a resident of New Jersey (1 to 2 awards will be reserved for West Orange applicants).
  • Currently a student in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12.
  • All students who apply must have a cumulative B average or higher in a music, performing arts, or visual arts program.
  • All students who apply must submit a one-paragraph essay describing how you use your music/art for community service or to help others.
  • A letter of recommendation from your primary music, performing arts, or visual arts teacher addressing your dedication and performing skills.
  • A link to a performance (from not more than one year ago) or visual images.
  • At least one paragraph explaining how this scholarship can help you

Montclair Drifters Scholarship

Montclair Drifters, Incorporated, a distinguished organization with a rich history dating back to its formation in 1964 in Waco, Texas. To recognize the achievement of two graduating MHS students whose community service and leadership are exemplary regardless of financial need.

Giovina Coscia Memorial Scholarship 2024

Pomptonian Food Service will be awarding four $1,000 scholarships in memory of our founder, Giovina Coscia.  The monetary awards are available to graduating seniors in any of the high schools Pomptonian serves.  Children of Pomptonian employees are not eligible for this award.

 

We will base our decision on a combination of factors including:

 

         -Students pursuing a career in Business, Culinary Arts or Restaurant, Hotel and 

Hospitality Management

         -Financial Need

         -Work Experience

         -Community Service

         -Quality and Substance of Essay

         -Letters of Recommendation (2)

The NJ Emergency Manager's Memorial Scholarship Program

Eligible students must:

- Be a high school senior, planning to attend college, or current college student presently enrolled in a college or university with at least one full year remaining and a U.S. citizen. 

- Willing to pursue a career path in the emergency services field such as emergency management, homeland security, fire suppression, law enforcement, hazardous material, arson investigation, Emergency Medical Services, Health, Public Health, Social Services, etc

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC Scholarship
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an international public service organization founded at Howard University in 1913. The Montclair Alumnae Chapter, chartered on May 6, 1962, is one of more than 900 chapters of the sorority throughout the world.  Since its inception, the chapter has remained dedicated to community outreach while maintaining the high ideals of our glorious sisterhood. Over the years, our chapter has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to many well deserving youngsters.

The following students are eligible to apply: Female students of African descent, who are Essex County residents, graduating in May/June 2023 from high school. A minimum grade point average of 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale).

2023-2024 Janet Logan Daily Foundation Scholarship
The Janet Logan Daily Foundation is accepting applications for its annual $10,000 scholarship. 
The foundation grants an annual award to one graduating HS senior from New Jersey who will be enrolling full-time in an accredited post-secondary university or college. This scholarship rewards students from varying academic backgrounds who routinely demonstrate maturity and integrity within and beyond the classroom.

The deadline to submit a completed application is April 1st, 2024.
