The Montclair Guidance Department encourages all seniors to investigate scholarship opportunities. National scholarships can be searched through one of any number of online scholarship search services, such as Fastweb or Chegg. Below is a list of useful websites.

For a list of local or regional scholarships, please see below. The list is updated periodically as scholarships are received in the MHS Guidance Center. Please note, all scholarships that require a paper application are available  in the Guidance Center (Main Building, first floor).

Pearls & Ivies Serving Montclair, NJ and Beyond Nonprofit Corporation and Omicron Xi Omega

Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated are pleased to invite college bound young

women to apply for one of our 2020 Scholarships.


Scholarships will be awarded in four categories: (1) HBCU (Historically Black College and University); (2) Community Service; (3) STEAM Scholarship (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math; (4) The Doris H. Coleman Butterfly Book Scholarship. All scholarships are for young women who have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial needs by submitting the FAFSA, and documented history of community service. Each scholarship has additional requirements specific to that scholarship.


Applications can be picked up in the Office of School Counseling and must be submitted to OXOSCHOLARSHIP@GMAIL.COM or postmarked by 2/1/2020 if mailed.

Distracted Driving Family Plan Scholarship

"Create a “Distracted Driving Family Plan” within which you address the safety of your family by proactively committing to a plan that avoids the occurrence(s) of distracted driving by you and the members of your family."

There will be three scholarships awarded, ranging from $2,500 to $1,000. The deadline to apply is March 17th, 2020.

U.S. Department of State High School Study Abroad Scholarships

The U.S. Department of State offers merit-based scholarships for American high school students to study abroad from three weeks to an academic year. Previous language study is not required for most programs.
